The holidays approach, so it must be the end of the year. Looking around my studio, I see that I actually did manage to produce some new work in 2015, despite the upheaval in schedule – in life, really. I’ll not go into all that here, though. Sometimes, when life gets crazy, it’s nice to fall back on something familiar and well-loved. Thus, a new dance painting for me.
This piece is 30″ x 40″ and is my usual “up-cycled” house paint on gallery wrapped canvas. I like using this professional, yet less formal, format. And, you already know how much I love painting dancers. I love that this young lady seems to be perfectly still, yet fully energized. Returning to these favorite elements is nourishing to my soul.
“Look Up” will be added into my current show, at the Creative Framing Gallery in Louisville, Colorado. There are a few other artists showing work in this group show, and the work is really pretty wonderful. Come by to see us the evening of December 3. (Traditional First Friday has been moved to Saturday in December, to coordinate with other town events.)
